WHY PEDIGREES ARE SO IMPORTANT
Many people ask us why we put so much Emphasis on pedigrees and the lines of our dogs. Some people say they just want a family pet, who care about the paper? Some don’t even care if the parents are registered, if they look pure bred they must be pure bred. The only thing they want is a dog that resembles a German Shepherd and if they can get it cheap then that is all good.
Since you have asked me these questions I will try to answer it to the best of my ability.
When families are deciding on purchasing a German Shepherd they want to make the best decision they can. Most people just want to see the pup without second thought about the pedigree. However the pedigree is the initial source of information about the puppy and what it will become. Buying a puppy is a life time commitment. It’s not an item, you are not buying a cell phone or a camera. It’s a living breathing family member that has his/her own needs and requirements. Your new family member can feel, understand and show emotion. The more knowledge of the breed and Pedigree you have the better understanding you will have of your new family member. High Quality pedigree will of course offer you better Quality dog. That’s why we strive for only the current and best pedigrees in the world.
When you buy a dog without pedigree or with low pedigree, you won’t know whether the parents have their hips and elbows certified. You’ll have no knowledge of any potential hereditary problem. You won’t know what kind of temperament the dog will have or how the dog’s behavior will develop. It's not enough just to look like a German Shepherd, the dog also has to act like German Shepherd. A dog with a Top Quality Pedigree will have a better temperament, will be easily trainable, he/she will be a fantastic friend and companion of the entire family. It is no secret that the better the dogs turn out the more the family loves it. The low quality pedigree or no pedigree will only offer you difficulties in some aspect of your dogs’ life, whether it be with discipline, commands, structure, health issues, temperament etc.
******Most of the dogs that are sold for cheap are usually from people cutting corners, puppy mills, irresponsible pet owner, inbreeding families, upbringing puppies with the wrong or very low quality feeding program, with little care and minimal socialization. Lower quality pedigree or no pedigree dog will produce low quality, poor health and poor temperament dogs. When you purchase a dog that comes with great pedigree, you are purchasing a piece of mind. Yes, it will cost you a little more, but you’ll know that the dog comes from a stable line. You will have the information on all ancestors and their hip and elbow ratings. Everyone in the pedigree would be DNA tested. You can be assured that they will not have hereditary health or behavior issues. It will be a true German Shepherd known for its beauty, brain, strength and its gentleness. A true German Shepherd helper to the disabled, a guardian of homes, a companion to children, a protector of livestock, and a partner in crime-fighting. There is literally nothing this dog cannot do, and almost nothing he is not willing to try. We take great Pride in our dogs and their pedigrees. Our dogs live in our house with us and our kids because we know their temperament and nature.
